Workers’ Comp Doesn’t Have to Pay for Injured Worker’s New Mobile Home

A worker asked the WHSCC (as it was called back then) to pay for the mobile home he moved into after suffering a work-related ankle injury. The agency refused and the New Brunswick workers’ comp appeals board upheld the denial, noting that none of the 3 home needs assessments performed said anything about his needing a mobile home. Moving to a mobile home was a personal decision, not a medical need covered by workers’ comp [20198804 (Re), 2019 CanLII 52966 (NB WCAT), May 31, 2019].
