New noise protection rules take effect from July 1st. The new rules, Regulation 381/15: Noise, which the MOL officially approved in December, consolidate the previously separate noise protection requirements for Industrial Establishments, Mines, Oil and Gas-Offshore and Farming Operations into a single OHS regulation, takes effect.
Maximum noise exposure limit of 85 decibels time-weighted over an 8-hour shift
Employers must use “hierarchy of controls” including engineering controls, work practices and hearing protection devices to cut worker exposure
Employers must provide adequate instruction and training on hearing protection devices provided.
