Guess the Most Violence-Prone Job

Try to guess the job where workers face the greatest risk of violence in the United States. Cop? No. Prison guard? Nope.

Actually, taxi drivers have the greatest risk of being murdered or assaulted on the job. According to the US Department of Labor, 184 taxicab drivers per 1,000 were injured in assaults in the year 2000. And more than 1,080 taxi drivers have been murdered on the job since 1980.

People choosing this profession are estimated to be 18 times more likely to die on the job than the average working American. If you are talking to your workers about workplace violence prevention you might want to share these shocking statistics with them.
