Danger in the Trenches

Each year, excavation and trenching cave-ins cause thousands of injuries and dozens of deaths. Trenches can collapse unexpectedly and bury a worker or a bystander. Many victims suffocate before they can be rescued. Some victims buried only to the waist have died because of injuries caused by pressure from the soil. Excavations are hazardous not only for those who work in them, but anyone in the area. Keep a safe distance from excavation sites, and keep your children away too.
